Weightron Bilanciai is a leading supplier of industrial weighing equipment including weighbridges, platform scales, mobile weighing systems, filling systems and process weighing systems. The company, which has been based in Chesterfield for over 12 years, is proud to be part of the renowned Bilanciai Group based in Northern Italy. The Bilanciai Group is the most successful European weighing company and is unique amongst its competitors. The structure and business ethos allows individual Group members to maintain their own identities, whilst benefiting from the Bilanciai corporate strength.

A Brief History
Weightron was established in 1987 by the present managing director Ray Catt as an import company for a leading US weighing company. In 1988 the company moved to its first factory in Sheffield, taking on two fabricators to begin weighbridge production. Servicing was carried out by Ray's two son's Nick and Mark together with Mark Spick. In 1991 the first Titan weighbridge was produced using Revere double ended shear beam load cells and Unimetrics headworks.

Two years later Weightron moved to its first premises in Chesterfield and started producing weighbridges using components from Italian based Societa Cooperativa Bilanciai. In 1995 the company produced the first SBP/M design of weighbridge for Rhone Poulenc and this weighbridge is still in active service today.

In 1996 Weightron built a new production facility on the outskirts of Chesterfield. Following a very positive relationship with the Italian company Weightron was purchased in 1998 by Cooperativa Bilanciai with some of the share holding sold back to employees. In 1998 Weightron Bilanciai built the current office facility and increased manufacturing capabilities with a second weighbridge production line.

In 2003 Weightron Bilanciai increased its UK coverage with two strategic acquisitions. Parker Weighing Systems/Parker Farm Brands will ensure Weightron continue to be a dominant supplier in the agricultural sector, while the acquisition of Taunton based Westco Weighing gives the company an important strategic sales and service centre in south west England.

In 2005 Weightron Bilanciai purchased Stelomain Weighing in Stanstead Abbotts. This increases the company's service coverage in the Home Counties and Southern England.

In October 2005 a £500K manufacturing extension was officially opened, significantly increasing Weightron Bilanciai's weighbridge production capabilities and firmly establishing the company as the UK's leading weighbridge manufacturer.
