In many tank and vessel installations where accurate weight measurement is required, it may not be possible to fit loadcells without major refit work. Normal level control methods may also not be applicable or give the required accuracy. For these applications, our innovative DWS displacement system provides the perfect solution and opens up exciting new possibilities for vessel weighing across a broad spectrum of industries especially in chemicals, fuel oil, food and beverage, automotive, dairy produce and waste water.
Principle of Operation
The system is based on a simple Archimedes displacement principle. A linear displacer, connected to a transducer, is suspended from the top of the
vessel. The displacer has a fixed mass, which is designed to keep it hanging vertically
downwards at all times. The weight of the displacer will decrease due to the buoyancy effect as the vessel is
filled. The weight loss is directly proportional to the height and density of the liquid. Calibration enables
measurement of total mass and obtainable accuracies of better than 0.03% of reading.
