It’s not only the traffic lights that can be green at Weightron’s weighbridge installations. We are the first UK weighbridge manufacturer to develop a green weighbridge, which is powered completely by solar energy. The company’s SolarWeigh solar power system provides a zero carbon footprint solution for powering weighbridge installations in areas where mains power is not readily available. This brings optimum operational flexibility in a wide range of remote applications, making it ideal for the Quarrying, Waste & Recycling and Agricultural industries.
The latest solar panel technology, combined with Weightron’s low energy consumption weighbridge electronics and digital load cells, provides unrivalled power generation and storage. SolarWeigh is available in two versions, Energy-3 and Energy-12, the choice being determined by the operational requirements for the weighbridge.
SolarWeigh is made up of four fundamental elements:
One or more solar panels
Mounting support post.
Battery pack for storing the accumulated energy.
Adjustable Solar panel mounting bracket.
During sunlight exposure, the energy produced is made available for both the operation of the equipment and for recharging the batteries. During the hours of low light/darkness the weighbridge system is powered directly from the batteries.
Based on a normal eight hour working day, the Energy-3 version provides three days power for the weighbridge system, without the need for sunlight to recharge the battery, whilst the Energy-12 provides 12 days usage under similar conditions. Battery recharge time is less than five hours in direct sunlight.
Weightron have already pioneered a number of innovative weighbridge concepts, including special mount assemblies for sloping weighbridges, electronic signature pads and automatic number plate recognition systems.
