    Sue Ducker

    General Manager/Company Secretary

    Sue has worked for Weightron for 17 years after previously been employed as Financial Accountant for a local PLC company in the Aero Industry.

    Prior to becoming ACMA Qualified, she has worked in both service and manufacturing industries, learning vast experience in all departments of business from service/maintenance, production, quality and finance.
    Sue supports the Management Team in the day to day management of the Company throughout all departments of the business and Championing the Business Software Packages for Service, Production and finance.

    Fun Fact: Enjoys travel, Socializing and dog walking.

    Lex Martin

    Business Unit Manager (Aftersales Service)

    Lex is experienced in change management, improvement programs and team building in manufacturing & engineering environments.

    At Weightron, Lex oversees the administration and coordination of all internal and external activities of the Service department.

    Fun Fact: Proudly living in Park Hill, Sheffield’s famous ‘Streets in the Sky’, Lex also loves to travel the world, exploring coffee shops & fine dining restaurants

    Darren Jones

    Projects and Innovation Director

    Darren has been working at Weightron for 21 years and working in the weighing industry for 30 years. Started as a field engineer, progressing into software development in hardware devices and then progressed into PC based software development, building a team of software developers and project managers to fulfil Weightron’s business requirements.

    Darren is responsible for the Software & Projects teams, liaising with and supporting customers through their journey from inception to completion and overseeing projects of all sizes and complexity.

    He is keen on keeping an eye on new technologies, both hardware and software to keep the business at the forefront of the industry.

    Fun Fact: Hobbies include classic vehicle restoration, fishing and motorcycles.

    James Wilson

    Service Manager

    Background: James started his employment at Weightron in 1996, starting out as apprentice engineer 28years ago. Travelling nationally & internationally installing weighbridges, completing calibrations and conducting repairs.

    James soon moved on throughout the business and became Deputy Project Manager overseeing project installations right through to commissioning. Since then, James has become the Service Manager and has been in this role now for five years. He oversees a total of 28 engineers and 5 administrators.

    Responsibilities: With the service department being a crucial part of the business its paramount that James oversees all areas of Service from visiting customer sites and building relationships to conducting engineers training. James pushes his vast experience & knowledge onto his team to ensure the service team succeed.

    Fun Fact/Personal Interests: Keen Manchester united fan and has a newfound love of Guinness!

    Nick Burley

    Sales Director

    Nick began his career in the industry as a Field Service Engineer. He then transitioned into sales, initially serving as a Regional Sales Manager, and later advancing to National Sales Manager.

    In 2019, Nick was promoted to Sales & Marketing Director. In this role, he oversees the management of the sales team at Weightron, along with marketing activities, system tenders, and distributor relations.

    Nick’s goals include driving significant growth in sales and expanding Weightron’s market presence.

    Fun fact: As a father of three girls, when he’s not busy taxiing them around, Nick enjoys watching his local football team.

    Nick Catt

    Managing Director

    Nick was one of founding members of Weightron Bilanciai, starting as a technician over 36 years ago and working across all departments within the company before engaging in several years of oversees work for the parent company Bilanciai Italy, work that took him right across the world from Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia and Australasia.

    Nick has been responsible for overseeing the development of the UK business and leadership team for over 19 years, taking a second-tier company to being the UK market leader in Weighing solutions, software and automation.

    Nick remains deeply involved is the drive for the company to remain at the forefront of technology and has the ability to harness his international experience in bringing new and innovative opportunities forward.

    Fun Fact: Keen supporter of non-League football come rain or shine.

      What is a Weighbridge?

      A Weighbridge (US truck scale) is a large, low-profile scale used to weigh both road and off-road vehicles (rigid and articulated lorries, dumper trucks, vans etc) and their contents. The load carried by the vehicle is calculated by weighing the vehicle both empty and loaded. The main weighbridge deck structure can be constructed from steel, pre-stressed concrete or steel-concrete composite.

      What is a Pit-Mounted Weighbridge?

      Installed inside a pit, these weighbridges sit flush with the road surface. As they don’t require ramps, they take up less road surface compared to surface mount installations. Suitable for sites with restricted access.

      What is a Surface-Mounted Weighbridge?

      Installed above ground, these weighbridges incorporate steel or concrete ramps to allow vehicles to drive on and off. One advantage is that the ramps slow down vehicle entry speed. Less foundation works are required when compared with pit mount installations. Surface designs are suitable for temporary/portable installations when used with steel ramps.
