    Weightron Bilanciai Employs A New Apprentice Fabricator-Welder

    Weightron Bilanciai are pleased to announce another further addition to their apprenticeship program with the hiring of a new Fabricator Welder. As there is a generational skills gap appearing, Weightron has taken the decision to expand its scope of apprenticeships into the manufacturing section of it business, providing future skilled workers for its expanding business operation.

    Kai Pollard, 19 years old join Weightron as the newest apprentice Fabricator Welder.

    Before joining Weightron he studied Henry Fanshaw School in Dronfield. Outside from the job he has a real passion for Mountain Biking and Hip-Hop music.

    He chose to go down the apprenticeship route as he really enjoy fabricating steel products and seeing the transition of raw materials into a finished product that can be utilised in real life scenarios.

    Weightron Bilanciai are providing me with training, support, and skills I require to undertake the challenge of becoming a qualified fabricator. The reason he choose to join Weightron was the scope to work on, and learn to understand large scale fabrication, broadening his horizons in the field of fabrication.

      What is a Weighbridge?

      A Weighbridge (US truck scale) is a large, low-profile scale used to weigh both road and off-road vehicles (rigid and articulated lorries, dumper trucks, vans etc) and their contents. The load carried by the vehicle is calculated by weighing the vehicle both empty and loaded. The main weighbridge deck structure can be constructed from steel, pre-stressed concrete or steel-concrete composite.

      What is a Pit-Mounted Weighbridge?

      Installed inside a pit, these weighbridges sit flush with the road surface. As they don’t require ramps, they take up less road surface compared to surface mount installations. Suitable for sites with restricted access.

      What is a Surface-Mounted Weighbridge?

      Installed above ground, these weighbridges incorporate steel or concrete ramps to allow vehicles to drive on and off. One advantage is that the ramps slow down vehicle entry speed. Less foundation works are required when compared with pit mount installations. Surface designs are suitable for temporary/portable installations when used with steel ramps.
