Weightron Named as a Chesterfield Champion

Weightron Bilanciai’s head office in the UK is situated on the Chesterfield Trading Estate, just to the north of Chesterfield’s busy town centre. We’ve been based in the North Derbyshire town ever since we started trading almost 30 years ago.

But the town isn’t just home to Weightron Bilanciai – it’s also home to many of the people who work at the company.

All of which means that we are extremely proud to have become one of the Chesterfield Champions.

What is a Chesterfield Champion?

The Chesterfield Champions is a collection of around 190 local businesses, organisations, community initiatives, charities, radio stations, sports clubs and a lot more, all of whom have come together to support the local economy and to promote the area as one in which to live, work, visit and invest. 

By working together with Destination Chesterfield, the Chesterfield Champions are able to make the most of their combined strengths to develop local marketing initiatives, share resources to promote the local economy and offer practical career support to the students at our local schools and colleges. 

At the same time, we’re also raising the wider profile of Chesterfield, so that more businesses can see the benefit of locating their offices, factories and warehouses in the area to take advantage of our skilled workforce, community networks and superb location.

What we’ve done to become a Chesterfield Champion

As well as being a major local employer for close on 30 years, we’ve also been giving local teenagers a chance to gain valuable workplace experience at the same time as furthering their education – and earning a wage! 

As the UK’s leading developer of weighbridge solutions and technology, we’re uniquely placed to offer real insight into what a career in engineering entails. A team of students from Springwell Community College recently paid us a visit and were fascinated to see how some of the things they’re learning at the moment can be applied in a real-world scenario.

Our apprenticeship program has seen a number of aspiring engineers, software developers and other skilled workers of the future taking their first steps on the career ladder at Weightron at the same time as getting a degree. That means they get all the benefits of higher education without the long-term burden of a student loan.

Having enjoyed all the benefits of working in Chesterfield these last 30 years, we’re excited to be doing our bit helping these talented local youngsters become the backbone of Chesterfield’s future as a centre for excellence in the years to come.
